November 9th, 2010- Toronto Fashion Incubator presented Behind the Scenes with Canada’s Top Fashion Designers hosted at the highly prestigious Integral House; an award winning 5-storey, 18,000 square foot prestigious Rosedale home featuring staggering panoramic views, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, and a concert hall. David Dixon, Joeffer Caoc, and Lucian Matis, the three designers showcased their Spring 2011 collections in an intimate atmosphere. While the models strutted their stuff, the designer was interviewed by W Networks Take This House and Sell It! Glenn Dixon. Before the event the guests were given time to mingle, and munch down on some incredible appetizers (I could have eaten 20 of their egg sandwiches). Every guest was treated to a personalized SCHWARZKOPF gift bag, with hair care experts evaluating your hair to give you the right products. At the end of the show a M.A.C Cosmetics goodie bag was given, containing a lip-stain and a mineral bronzer. This was good for me because M.A.C doesn’t use animal testing, and I have sworn off animal-tested products. The events platinum sponsor was ACURA. Pre-show tickets where bring sold for the raffle to win either a weekend with one of their vehicles, or the grand prize being a weekend at Niagara on the Lake complete with a chauffeured limo, and wine sampling tour. The night was a glamorous success with a great amount of money raised for the up-and coming-designers in the Toronto Fashion Incubator.
What advice do you have for aspiring designers?
David Dixon: "Don’t give up. You will be shut down, and will be shut down many times, but DON’T give up."
Joeffer Caoc : "Stop writing cheques to receivables you’re not getting"
Lucian Matis: It's long hours. Don’t do it because you like shopping. Just because you like shopping does not mean your passion is for fashion. You have to like creating, and like actually creating the clothing, which takes many hours
